Aisha is a quirky, passionate, and inquisitive Kwakwaka’kwakw/Cree girl who invites us to ask questions with her. She dreams of being a voice-actor, or maybe a unicorn; and could spend all day singing to her guitar, impersonating weird creatures- and exploring the magic portals of the Internet. Growing up between the Musqueam Native reserve and social housing projects in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, a neighbourhood infamous for its poverty and addiction-stricken community, Aisha has seen a lot for her 11 years. The history of violence that has affected her Indigenous family has left deep wounds that remain open today and continue to shadow her childhood. But even when situations are grim, she keeps her inquisitive spirit busy. She is a strong, determined and beautifully creative child with a lot of dreams.
